MEDICAL REIMBURSEMENTS

We provide financial assistance to patients who cannot afford good medical care, mobility aids, therapy or hospitalization. Any patient who contacts us is evaluated to determine their exact needs. Reimbursement varies from partial to complete depending on the patients’ needs.

Swarga Foundation is humbled to be part of Master Manoj Kumar’s journey. We have supported Manoj with Rs. 30,000/- which would help him buy a world-class rifle. Manoj, 14, from Chennai was paralysed when he was 4 ½ years old. He has braved the multiple challenges of a spinal cord injury and is now in Class VII. His father drives an auto to make ends meet. We wish Manoj a great career in the sport.

Swarga Foundation appreciates the unflinching fortitude and indomitable will of Master Ratheesh, who has difficulty walking since his childhood. Ratheesh studies in Class 7 in Vagarayampalayam Government School, Coimbatore. Swarga is privileged to provide him a wheel chair to make him more mobile. Team at Swarga visited his home, spoke to his family and ensured that he’s back in School. We at Swarga believe that every child has Right to Education. We have also built an accessible toilet in his School, which will ensure his regular attendance to School and thus a bright future.

Swarga Foundation @ Kaumaram Prashanti Academy, School for Children with Special needs. It’s a privilege to support three girl children and 1 boy for their therapy sessions upto Rs.40,000/- this year. What started with two children in 2015 has now increased to four. We hope to support more special children in the coming years. The children here are not just SPECIAL but LIMITED EDITION because of their divinity and innocence. We thank the Director of the School, Ms. Deepa Mohanraj, the staff for the opportunity and the sponsors for their generous contributions.

Bhushan Gopalani, 30-year old is 85% disabled because of Spinal Cord Injury. He has been selected for the PGP-PGDM(2017-19) programme at IIMC(Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta) and currently studying there. The total cost of the programme is Rs. 30,00,000/- which includes Rs. 20,00,000/- lakhs as fees and the remaining Rs. 10,00,000/- as other expenses (including cost of books, laptop, projects, mess charges etc). Swarga Foundation has supported Bhushan with Rs. 60000/- towards his tuition fees.

Swarga Foundation takes immense pride in co-sponsoring the 2nd National Individual Chess Championship for the differently-abled. The Championship was inaugurated by International Grand Master Vishwanathan Anand at Trichy on November 9, 2017 at Pavendar Bharathidasan College of Engineering & Technology. The five-time Woman International Master, Ms. Jennitha Anto was also one of the guests of honour. Mr. Anand was very happy about Swarga’s I’m Special Calendar 2018, featuring differently-abled atheletes from across the country. He applauded our efforts and also the quality of the calendar and wished us the best in carrying forward our work.

Poornavalli, 16, affected with Muscular Dystrophy dropped out of school due to lack of disabled-friendly infrastructure. She barely walks with the help of her toes. Swarga Foundation donated her a laptop to continue her education through online coaching. We wish her all the best to achieve success in her chosen field. We immensely thank M/s. Yaminee for coming forward to take this up as their CSR activity.

Ms. Premalatha from Nandyala, Andhra Pradesh is affected with Profound hearing loss in the right ear. Swarga Foundation feels privileged to have supported her with the diagnosis and assessment at All India Institute of Speech & Hearing (AIISH), Mysore and contributed Rs. 20000/- for her hearing aid . Her quality of life has definitely improved. We express our gratitude to Ms. Krithika Gururaj, who took care of her family and her and was catalytic throughout the process. We also thank Mr. Sriram Chandra Murthy and Mr. Ravishankar, Transeazy Logistics Pvt. Ltd., for their contribution due to which Premalatha’s life finds a way.

Swarga Foundation is privileged to provide wheelchairs to Mr. Francis and Ms. Krishna Veni, affected with Spinal Cord injury, currently undergoing treatment at SAHAI Spinal Injuries Rehabilitation Centre, Coimbatore. We thank Prof. Dr. Thomas Joseph and Mr. Gajendran for providing us this opportunity. We express our gratitude to our donor Ms. Pushpa Saran, Namah Foundation for her generous contribution. We hope these wheelchairs would improve their mobility and make them independent. The team at Swarga also interacted with patients to spread positivity and confidence.

13 year old Shalini (name changed and photo blurred as per request), sustained severe injuries in the head and skull last week, due to fall from first floor. She was inmate at the Children’s home we were supporting. She underwent surgery; now discharged and recovering well. Many philanthropists came forward to support for her hospitalisation. Swarga Foundation also supported with Rs. 3000/- for her medical expenses. We wholeheartedly thank Ms. Gathampari Soundararajan for extending her support.

He has vast industrial knowledge and has expertise in Valves manufacturing. We admire his positivity and courage to fight adversities. Swarga Foundation donated three commode wheelchairs to Shyam Kumar, 15 (affected with Muscular Dystrophy), Diwakar, 28 (affected with Multiple Sclerosis) and Dakshinamoorthy, 14 (affected with Muscular Dystrophy) on April 25, 2017. We are currently providing support to them in the form of education reimbursement, hospitalisation, physiotherapy and counselling. We hope to make their lives comfortable by assisting in whichever way we can. We thank Vasavi Trust, Coimbatore for the support.

Lalithkumar Natarajan, Managing Trustee of Love & Acceptance, an NGO to support people affected with Spinal Injuries, is soon to commence his K2K (Kanyakumari to Kashmir) Expedition. He is affected with Transverse Myelitis and currently wheelchair bound. Swarga Foundation is glad to provide logistics support worth Rs. 10000/- (Rupees ten thousand only)to bring his modified Royal Enfield from Chennai to Coimbatore. We salute his grit and determination and wish him the best in all his endeavours.

Nafees and Naseema are two sisters from Hyderabad. Nafees(35) is affected with Motor Neuron Disease and currently bed-ridden. She loves playing with colors and is adept at painting.
Naseema(34) is affected with Spinal Muscular Atrophy and currently wheelchair bound. She is the only bread winner of the family and struggling to meet the ends. Swarga Foundation salutes their spirit and courage to face adversities and as a gesture, donated Rs. 2000/- towards the purchase of art materials to Nafees. Swarga has committed to bearing their monthly medical expenses henceforth. Please let us know if any kind-hearted souls would be willing to support them.

 

REIMBURSEMENT – PHYSIOTHERAPY

Siblings, Dachinamoorthy, 14 and Poornavalli, 17 are affected with Muscular Dystrophy. While Dachinamoorthy is completely immobile and wheelchair bound, Poornavalli barely manages to walk on her toes. Swarga Foundation is supporting them with physiotherapy sessions and supplements to boost immunity. We have appointed Mr. Murali from Physio 24/7 to take care of the children’s therapy sessions which he does with utmost care and dedication. We hope the therapy and supplements will help them gain much needed strength and perseverance.

Swarga Foundation has committed to support Helping Hearts, Shelter Home for Children, Senior Citizens and persons affected with AIDS, located at Kovaipudur, Coimbatore on a monthly basis by providing them medicines and consumables like adult diapers. This month, we have been able to reimburse an amount of Rs. 7322/- towards the medicines and consumables for 7 senior citizens. Swarga Foundation supports Ms. Shobhana, a single parent from Coimbatore with her son, Shyam Sundar’s education for upto Rs. 12000/- this year. 14-year old Shyam, who is affected with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy, has been a rank holder at the Holy Angel Matriculation School, Kavundampalayam. It took barely 4 years to see him from being completely mobile to being on a wheel-chair. He is made of warrior material and doesn’t give up in life. We salute his courage and have assured him of our support for his aspirations.

A single mother, Gowri is a therapist who has been part of the healing process of thousands of patients from the last 12 years. Her daughter scored 93% in 10th exams and 91% in 1st year Diploma in EEE. We wish her all the best and commit to support in her aspirations to become an IAS officer. We have started with providing her uniform, books and the starter kit worth Rs.2000/- on her first day of the school. God bless the family and give them the courage to face all adversities.

 

DONATION OF TREADMILL

We have been always motivated by Ms.Deepa Mohanraj and Ms. Annapurna Jayaram, founders of Kaumaram Prashanthi Academy, school for children with special needs. We are very happy to donate a Treadmill which will be a great benefit to the children for their physical training and general health upkeep. We thank our volunteer Ms.Srividya Sivakumar for the generous contribution of the same. She comes from a defence service family background and is a renowned writer/poet from Coimbatore. Swarnalatha and Delphina Rex visited the Academy on February 22, 2016 and handed over the Treadmill to the inmates. We thank TNT India for the logistics support.

E-MARUTHAVAR

Swarga Foundation humbly salutes all those who rose to the occasion of rescue and relief operations at Chennai during the recent floods.With a great idea and limited resources we were fortunate to be approached by M/s Cura Healthcare who had designed great software to facilitate the screening and dispensing such anomalies at ground Zero. Cura’s telemedicine platform came in handy for us to assemble together a E-MARUTHUVAR , with the help of another specialist partner Balaji Medical College and Hospital based out of Chromepet, in Chennai to provide Medical Expertise via the Tele Medicine platform , whose paramedical staff are manning the camp site at Semmencherry that has been badly affected by floods which houses significant number of people who had earlier been affected by Tsunami. The clinic is housed in Noor Pharmacy who has given the space free of cost.

As many as hundreds of patients were attended by a team of Doctors from various specialties including General Medicine, Community Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dermatology, ENT, Paediatrics, and diagnosed the symptoms of the patients and prescribed proper treatment through computer network with high-speed internet access, during the medical camp that runs from 10 AM to 1 PM every day.

REIMBURSEMENT – MEDICAL AID

A reasonably well settled Ms. Rikki from Indore was one day diagnosed with multiple sclerosis which left her paraplegic and unable to attend to her daily needs. Today she is unable to attend to her job and support herself due to lack of support from family.

We were able to identify her and started supporting her in ways we could do best. Recently her requirement for a mobility wheel chair and a simple walker was arranged with humble sponsorship from first time young earners Anirudh, Rachit, Robin, Sudeep, Suneet and Naman from Indore.

Our foundation’s volunteer Ms. Madhuri Bhandari visited her and handed her the same on 13th Feb 2016. Ms. Nikki now is looking for sponsors to help her with her medical bills of approx Rs. 5000/- per month. We have a sponsor for the same till April 2016. We look forward to volunteers who can help her.
Ensuring patient follow-up at Sree Balaji Medical College & Hospital, referral cards were given to respective patients. Also patients cited the ability to get an appointment when they needed one, and the convenience and ease of use as huge benefits of the Telemedicine Camp.
We wish to thank all those who have contributed for the free medicines and we seek your blessings so that we may be able to serve maximum beneficiaries during our month long initiative that may continue for the second month also.

Diwakar is a 27 year old young adult who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 4 years ago, when he was pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. He is the eldest son of the humble parents. His younger brother who earns a four-figure salary is the sole bread winner of the family. The pressure to perform well at studies and guilt of using up all his father’s savings for his education took a toll on his health and made him a victim of an incurable disease.

Our volunteers Delphina Rex and Thiru Semmal conducted a puppet making session for the students of vocational training. The energy and the happiness in them left us spellbound. Swarga Foundation also donated a sum of Rs. 25000 towards the education and vocational training of two girl children affected with Mental retardation and Autism.
